Orlando MT Students Raise Funds for Children`s Residence, Ovarian Cancer Alliance

Massage Therapy students from Florida Career College - Orlando recently provided key support for two fundraisers benefitting local charities. Both events were organized by Program Chair Darlean Covelli.

Students pulled together on Thursday October 28th to offer chair massage on campus in exchange for donations for Edgewood Children's Ranch, a residential facility for trouble boys and girls ages 6-17.

About 25 people from our campus--students, faculty and staff--received massages and donated money or nonperishable items for the Ranch.

Students were provided with breakfast or lunch and given “goody bags” with FCC water bottles and samples of lotions, oils, and other MT items from Bon Vital, Biofreeze, and Sombra. Students also received information about the memberships in national massage therapy organizations.

On November 4, our students participated in yet another fundraiser. They were invited back for the third year to provide chair massages to support the Ovarian Cancer Alliance's “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” fundraiser and night out. The Alliance promotes education and research into ovarian cancer. The evening was a huge success and the students enjoyed the experience

Kevin Ward, Massage Therapy instructor, escorted the students to Antquia Night Club in down town Orlando, as Mrs. Covelli was out of town. We thank him for his support!

In appreciation of their efforts, students will be participating in an upcoming Yoga session at an Orlando studio.
