Boynton Beach Meet the Mayor Field Trip

One of the unique things about our business office administration diploma program and what sets us apart from others is that Florida Career College offers an externship of on-the-job training at an approved extern employment site in the community. This externship is part of the program and is completed once you have completed all the required courses.
Recently, Dr. Hamilton’s evening business office administration class took a trip to meet the Mayor of Boynton Beach. The students enjoyed their experience on this field trip and learning more about how the Mayor’s office operates.
One of the most exciting parts about the field trip was that the Mayor recently requested that the HR Coordinator for his office reach out to one of our Florida Career College business office administration students to start their externship in the local office.
Our externships take place in many of the local offices throughout the area and nearby to your home campus. These opportunities are exciting because you will have the opportunity to put your skills and knowledge to the test. Often, the externship sites hire the students who have completed the externship there.

Wanda H. is our Florida Career College – Boynton Beach student who successfully landed the externship with the local Mayor of Boynton Beach’s office. Wanda is excited for the opportunity. Below, Wanda shares her story and future goals.
Wanda decided to go back to college after some hardships in her life such as her husband passing away. Her husband was her best friend and someone she could confide in. Unfortunately, after his passing, Wanda found herself in need of a way to provide for her family on her own. She decided that she needed new skills to be able to advance herself. This is what led Wanda to Florida Career College, and we are so proud of her!
Wanda wants other students to know that the business office administration program teaches the skills needed to succeed but more importantly, the skills needed to help become an entrepreneur or operate a business successfully on your own. Wanda is happy to have been a part of Dr. Hamilton’s team and she believes that her class always worked together as a team to accomplish things. Wanda felt welcomed, encouraged, and supported.
The externship that Wanda has earned will prepare her for the world ahead of her and lead her on to a bright future. Wanda does have dreams to open a cabinet company and help others throughout the local community.
