Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Department of Education notice

UPDATED 4/19/23

What is happening and why?

The Department of Education has denied FCC’s application to continue its access to federal student financial aid, also known as Title IV. We strongly disagree with this decision and are appealing it with a formal response. FCC is providing additional information that the Department has requested and expects to continue operating as usual.

Why are you currently not enrolling?

Until FCC completes the process with the Department of Education on this matter, the Department has requested that we pause on enrolling new students until this is resolved.

Is FCC closing?

No, we have no intention of closing FCC, and all campuses will continue to operate with the same focus on providing our students with a quality education.

Will I still be able to get financial aid for the rest of my program?

The Department has authorized FCC to continue offering financial aid through January 31, 2024, so that current students can complete their programs. Students will be updated when new information becomes available.

Will I be able to finish my program at FCC?

Our campuses will operate as normal during our appeal of the Department’s decision and FCC is authorized to continue offering financial aid through January 31, 2024. Students will be updated when new information becomes available.

Will I still receive employment assistance once I finish my program?

Yes, our Career Services department remains committed to your career success and helping you find a job in your field of study.

Will my diploma still be recognized as valid once I finish my program?

Yes, FCC is still an accredited college, and the status of your diploma when you finish your program will not be affected.

Will you keep me informed of any updates regarding my financial aid?

Please continue to monitor your email for additional information as it becomes available.

If I chose to withdraw, do my credits transfer?

It is up to the institution to accept any of our credits. If you chose to no longer continue with your program at FCC, we will provide you with your transcripts. If you do transfer, your new school will evaluate your FCC coursework and decide whether to give you credit for the work you already completed.

If I choose to withdraw, am I responsible for tuition?

For currently-enrolled students who choose to withdraw, FCC will refund any funds paid to the school directly by or on behalf of the student and for which Title IV aid was not disbursed. The refund must be made no later than 30 days following the student’s withdrawal.

Whom can I contact to answer additional questions regarding my program and concerns?

If you have additional questions please contact the Student Hotline by email at [email protected] or by phone at (866) 591-8588

What can I do to support FCC?

The most important thing you can do is to focus on your studies and work toward your diploma. That is FCC’s mission and we do not want noise from outside to interfere with your success. However, if you’d like to share your experience at FCC and support the appeal, there are already online petitions such as this one: https://www.change.org/p/keep-florida-career-college-accessible-to-all?redirect=false

How can I tell my story and share how FCC has impacted my life positively?

If you would like to share your experience as a student at Florida Career College, we’d love to hear from you! Please email [email protected].
